Non-stop fun at Playa del Carmen.
Playa del Carmen is one of the hottest spots along the Riviera Maya. It may not be the bustling tourist attraction that is Cancun, or have its fame for that matter, but it’s kind of impossible to compare the two since they both offer so much, and yet are so different. Playa del Carmen, which used to be just a small fishing town, has gradually become a great spot to visit and stay if you are ever in the area.
Anyone who goes there, will tell you the same thing. They’ll say something along the lines of “that was the most fun I had during my time in the Riviera Maya!”, though maybe a little bit less eloquently. The truth of the matter is that Playa is one of the best spots to visit if you want to get your adrenaline pumping and have unforgettably fun experiences. Sure, there are tons of beautiful beaches, restaurants and bars, but we’re not going to be talking about that because we want to focus on telling you about all of the truly enjoyable activities for you to do there.
Nothing is more fun than being in nature and seeing exotic plants and animals up close. Playa del Carmen has tons of possibilities if that’s something you want to try. There are some great natural reserves not too far away, but the closest spot where you can see animals in nature is Akumal. It has a beautiful bay that is home to groups of sea turtles, and you can go for a visit to swim with them and enjoy the beautiful ocean scenery as well. You can either snorkel, scuba dive, or just swim in this area, but either way you will be able to enjoy being so close to such beautiful creatures.
Equally close to this city is our Riviera Maya Park dolphinarium. Complimentary transportation is provided, and it only takes 25 minutes to get from Playa del Carmen to this location. Here, you can swim with dolphins in a safe and clean environment. The trainers are very experienced and knowledgeable, they will gladly answer any questions you may have. This is a great activity to do as a family, since no one can resist the happy smiles of friendly dolphins.
If you’re more the exploring type, don’t fret! Playa has several cenotes, or cavernous sinkholes. You can scuba dive or snorkel around in it to enjoy the beauty and mystery of it up close. This is definitely an unforgettable experience, along with all of the others you can have in and around Playa del Carmen!
